Now we do have a phone here today, and what is our phone this is Xperia x8 ooh Ultra from Sony, okay and so what this is it is a handsome phone it is an attractive phone it is a purplish phone it is a mid-range phone. this model perfect support with Whatsapp plus apk app.
it is certainly a mid-range phone so what you're looking at here is a 6-inch mid-range phablet, so this is the phone that would compete with something like the g5 plus so it's snapdragons 230 processor a big 6-inch screen and for the first time I think we've ever seen it has a functional fingerprint scanner for US customers.
And now, of course, there is a there's a long history and at a dark secret around Sony. fingerprint scanners which are that for the past several years Sony has disabled the fingerprint scanners on its phones in the United States due to a mysterious business deal that Sony refuses to explain and has always refused to explain their very cryptic.
They’re very cryptic about what document they signed that forbid them from activating fingerprint scanners but apparently that business deal expired at the beginning of this year.

Now we've got fingerprint scanners we do this time it's on the back rather than normally they would side mount it on to the home button this is on the back.
so I don't know that design change made a difference, but it's here it works it's a first for u.s. it's good now let's talk about this is a 6-inch screen what's the resolution on this so this is a 1080 display this is you can see it's pretty standard it is kind of edge to edge.
it is not 18 by nine this is a traditional form factor you still have a rather sizable bezel on the top and bottom it is a very thick phone you can see it is six inches it is big it's a phablet it's definitely for multimedia consumption.
Now I'm happy to see speaking of multimedia there is a headphone jack on this man there is a headphone jack you get some of Sony's software features that I can't tell the difference between the regular headphone jack.
it works the headphone jack it has Bluetooth 5 I believe and USB C charging and a speaker now before we get to questions let's talk about pricing and compatibility so this phone lists at 449. It has the standard bands I have the full list in my review connectivity is good, but you can't use it on Verizon or Sprint. Pandora premium plus app also working fine this mobile phone.
Generally, it has the connectivity protocols that you'd expect for a mid-range phone it does have dual-band Wi-Fi it does have NFC, but overall it is a standard unlocked phone that you had to buy from Amazon or Best Buy the pricing varies between 399$ to 449$.

If you buy it from Best Buy which is a little unusual, but that's just the world of unlocked phones. So we'll get to the camera in a minute but let's take some questions first someone just asked about the camera happened okay let's get to the camera, so you said the camera is one of the strengths of this phone right yeah definitely.
This is a little bit unique, so if you zoom in to the top right here, you can see that has two camera sensors rather than one. you have a 16-megapixel front facing the camera with oh which is rare and you have a second 8-megapixel camera so what it does is it is a wide-angle lens so if you hit this you can go from like you know the standard shot to I believe this is 120 degrees.
Now it's not switching cameras right it isn't restricting the field of view of the wide-angle camera. okay so there it takes pretty good selfies uh probably some of the best selfies I've taken arguably, and generally, it does a good job at handling like strange lighting conditions like it's coming across pretty clearly.
right now which is and it has such an optical image stabilization a good video stable video, and it does pretty well in low light, so that's all rare to find in a selfie camera great.
now what do we have in here in terms of storage so this is 32 gigs inside the internal storage it does have an SD card slot I'm not going to pull it out because it'll restart.

but so you can do up to 256 here or above depending on if you have a larger card now camera wise we don't have those high-end Sony features like the 960 frames per second slo-mo or the ability to do 3d scanning right.
so this is a Snapdragon 630 processor, and it has four gigs of RAM so it can't handle some of the higher-end processes but it does have 120 fps slow motion mm-hm, and it also has 4k video at 30fps okay let's take some questions can you recap carriers someone's asking about Sprint yes this is not compatible with right now.
this is a this is an unlocked GSM LTE phone which is properly banded for AT&T mobile only, and that also said it doesn't have ban 71.
I have the full list I don't know it off the top. Let me take a look because that's something I like to point out especially with t-mobile users it yeah it's got 66 it's got 29, but it doesn't have 71 which means isn't going to get the extended rural coverage from the new network the t-mobile is building out.
Right now any more questions out there okay so this is it's interesting because it's a pretty good phone we rate it pretty well, but at the same time we don't recommend it do we the challenge is that we review for the US market. And so basically if you take it at MSRP its 450 dollars more you get the honor of you ten which is a four-star phone that's unlocked.
Final conclusion about Sony Xperia ultra
It has a more powerful processor it has an AI-assisted camera and then for 50 dollars less you get the Moto X 4 which is also unlocked, and it has compatibility with all four carriers, and it has waterproofing.
So you're looking at kind of this sits in between us if you're keen on multimedia. And like the six-inch screen, this is an option for more power and an 18 by nine form factor you have the honor of your ten, and then you also have to keep in mind the one plus six is rumored to come out at some point.
